Charity can't be forced but starts at home !

"Charity starts at home". This sober thought find place & is fitted in many lectures or discussions where we emphasize on self initiated givings. You can be introduced to some charity or social cause to provide your contributions, still you can't be forced. This is what I learned & understood. This doesn't seems to be the way our Govt or bodies are behaving. Recently I heard of some bill to be passed which talks about mandatory CSR( corporate social responsibilities).

How funny it would be to see that the bearer of all tax amount and of all the earnings asks someone else to be more generous. I was going through an article "Indians Shouldn't Have to Apologize for Profits*"which motivated me to write this post. Now the question is Will people/businessman really earn for society?

I really can't support this thought - where govt on one hand earns as much as it can through all means, whether good or bad and on the other hand asks it's bodies and social firms to spend for the bad it has done. Also a common man never comes to know where his/her hard earned money went away. Let me specify- on one hand govt earns through tax on liquor and promotes more shops in good markets and on the other hand spends and asks corporate houses to spend on  rehabilitation of habitual drinkers. This being just one of many examples of wasteful & illogical usage of funds.
Going forward Govt asking major business houses to spend a mandatory amount on social cause, hence in other way it is commercializing the real causes which is some way though minutely is running for betterment of poor & needy. This could also lead to malpractices where these houses may showcase something which was never there, hence in reality situations becomes darker.

On the other hand Govt could have motivated through genuine means or through relaxation on taxes
to the ones who really want to help. There could have been better initiatives from govt in a PPP model so that more people could have joined the cause.

I am still doubtful about the meaningful usage of this amount for the poor & needy and seems it will again be used for the benefit of wealthy, as there is already a problem with usage of the amount collected through taxes. Hence Govt must first realign all its expenditure before bringing in more collections. You can't force someone to participate in charity but can impress or inspire through examples and leadership.

Growing with Corruption to Real Growth

We have been a remarkably growing nation. If I compare the absolute growth of Indian economy which I am witnessing to what my earlier generations have seen or thought, mine is superlative in many senses and areas. Only thing which really troubles me is growth of corruption which we are witnessing, this also prevents me to relish the absolute growth (in terms of Rs & services).

Herewith I'll present few thoughts on how our growth story is shadowed by growing corruption and what would have happened if there was no corruption. It is found that   1% increase in the corruption level reduces the growth rate by about 0.72%(#1).

For this I may refer to few papers and studies which happened to study the correlation of growth with corruption, though there were different perspectives to it, I simply use it to see how corruption evolved, how our growth has been an ingredient of growing corruption and how corruption increased with overall economic growth.

The form of corruption in recent past has completely evolved. According to one of the interviews of Mr Javid Chowdhury( retd Senior IAS ) where he mentioned previously there was sheer manipulations in practicing duties &  usage of  "POWER" for awarding benefits to near and dear ones BUT now it is a total hijack of policies for close and near ones. Whole growth story is around few pockets. There is no sense of equality in country today and this divide is widening day by day.
Previously (10 -15 years back) people close to govt (Party) were enjoying loopholes in policies and were never shown a red card for any foul they committed and it was  intentional to benefit those sets of people. It was only restricted to govt being liberal to it's loyalists hence absolute value of corruption would have been marginal( a cut in all deals).
Now a days it is a well organised Policy theft. Policies are being made to profit set of  Businessmen (may or may not be loyalist), It is being systematically choreographed to steal National wealth and other public properties hence there is no parity in GDP growth and corruption. GDP has grown from few billions to few hundred billion but corruption has certainly grown thousand times and hence it is dangerous for the society. This is well evident in Coal, Spectrum, Minerals, Health etc deals. This shows how greedy and casual politician are getting day by day.
So are we really growing ?
I think a slower growth with no corruption would have taken us lot further.

Going deep into its reasons - I feel that main point of growth has falsely been linked only with GDP. A wrong picture of shining India has been presented to us.
If we see past fashion of GDP growth which was tremendous and so each citizen would have grown but this did not happen, along with GDP corruption also grew many folds.
GDP grew 10-15X but we don't see all citizens prospering that much & equally. This is because Corruption grew exponentially hence corrupt people grew many folds but not the righteous.
Going further  if we ask a common man  how much his wealth has grown, you may get       -ve response from many.
Just by  observing GDP per Capita as our growth metric, we can deduce that we have not grown as much as we could (study of few countries similar to India shows the same ). #2

GDP per capita -this in itself apply equality. Even though per capita improves, there is no fun in improving per capita earning theoretically(average) while in actual it is getting accumulated at only one corner.
So whats the solution ?- It could lie in not allowing Policy makers to carve out policies  that could prove beneficial only to few & detrimental for Nation Or letting them exploit our current weak policies. That creates divide and few are making maximum use through its loopholes. This would require selecting good and responsible Govt(candidate).
Each one of us must feel themselves as custodian of National wealth , prestige and culture. Growth must not only be linked with money/wealth a nation posses.
According to me there may be other aspects of growth as follows -:
  1. Transparency Index ( ratio of No. of RTI queries answered correctly)
  2. Number of innovations happening( reason being : settled producers have lobby but new innovators/entrepreneur don't have that).
  3. Mixed development index( Not only progress of only IT or Auto sector, instead all other sectors must also be growing equally eg agriculture, manufacturing, Infra etc.)
  4. Relate it with life style of a commoner in a village or town.
  5. It can't only be related to electronic gadgets a common person possesses but facilities provided by govt and availed by a commoner.
  6. Better political stability.
  7. Lower or controlled cost of necessities (Eg electricity, Water & Affordable HOUSING).        and many more could be measured and monitored  as governance Metric or for judging a govt's performance .
These should be made mandatory as key area in govt's report card on which we elect or penalise our govt.

Corruption will only reduce if  each member of Govt is keen in implementing & bringing  processes which are mainly aimed for providing good HEALTH, EDUCATION and facilities to each citizen specially in rural areas rather than providing Luxuries only to Metros or for self interest. If people are made aware, matured & competent  so that they are equipped to decide for themselves, for country's well being & can ask for their rights. This will certainly bring more Private Investments & public participation and hence more efficient and agile system.

Let Innovation take place in a free environment. Where each individual attends more number of years in studying.

Inefficient Indian System -- Live Long Anna_san

"LAO or JAO"
How long would it take to accept that corruption is bad?
How long would it take to accept that , it is government's duty to check corruption?
How long should it take to say YES to good and obvious?

Govt has to answer these standing question. Rather than wondering the ways taken by general public against corruption, govt must acknowledge all efforts and work coherently with public to curb corruption.BUT
Against all this each and every step of govt seems to be against people. Each and every decision since
1. Ramadev was handled.
2. Anna was checked.
3. Allegations were put on Anna and team.
4. Terming most respected and non-violent ways as "totally uncalled for".
5. Putting all means and mode against team Anna and all who are favoring his cause.
6. Bringing very weak Lokpal to standing committee.

At last asking Anna to talk alone and negotiate with govt alone gives an impression that govt is trying to favour "CORRUPTION".

It simply means that govt is not ready to check corruption. Govt is on the very side of corruption and is fighting for corruption. This is totally unaccepted. We the Indians are emotional, may be most of us are illiterate, may be below poverty line but still not so insane that we dont understand that govt is totally against any rule which stops govt to commit corruption( the source to gather wealth which you don't deserve).

Govt seems to be an advocate of corruption. No action of govt in any sense gives a message that govt is serious to stop it's second source of Luxury that is corruption.

HENCE IT has to mend it's way or leave the seat.

Prabuddhism: Corruption lies within U n Me only.

Prabuddhism: Corruption lies within U n Me only.

Corruption lies within U n Me only.

WE ARE FEEDING THIS DRAGON CALLED "CORRUPTION"
It is a human behavior, to look for other's fault and mistake. Who cares about how we are behaving individually. When it comes to corruption it is the same story, most of us try or atleast don't say NO if some of our needs or some important work gets easily done through a way which may not be truly "noncorrupt". BUT when it comes to a process in general or it is linked to some known personality we start remembering Gandhiji .
Corruption lies in our wasteful usage of resources or in hunger to grow through any means.

Thanks to ANNA and others , but it will not be completly abolished untill we stop feeding this dragon.

4rth pillar of democracy tainted.

It is shocking to see that 4rth pillar of democracy "Our Press" is also shackled with corruption. It looks very discouraging to see the people who once had responsibilities of bringing any bad or good to public are now part of the nexus and doing nothing even when they know everything.

We are near to the state where we have been left with no option to trust any one. What were the inputs at one time to decide good or bad are now seems to be not more than well planned scripts. Where should a innocent citizen look for, where would he go to get the real, original and true inputs about happenings and issues on which he is expected to decide his Precious vote which will bring the very costly Govt in existence.

If seeds are rotten how come we expect healthy fruits out of it. It is unfortunate that we are pasturing such media persons who are proving them selves no better than "our honest POLITICIANS".

Its time for our tech savvy people to start their search of truth on their own using their wide knowledge and web of literates to enlighten others with all good and true substances.

This will be great service to our nation.
